Morocco
Atlantic Coast & Essaouira
Morocco
Overview
Experience the vibrant culture and natural beauty of Morocco's Atlantic coast from argan forests and quiet beaches to the medina walls of the historic port city Essaouira.
The first five days are spent in the saddle with gallops along open beach, quieter trekking through argan groves and villages, and picnics along the trail. We ride Arab-Barb stallions, a hardy breed with roots in the Amazigh cavalry going back over a thousand years. Overnight in canvas tents pitched near the water and guesthouses with local families, with meals cooked fresh by our camp chef each day.
After the trek, we shift to Essaouira, a bustling port city that includes the UNESCO-listed medina, the old fortified city center that captures the intersection of European military architecture and North African aesthetic.
Spend two nights at a private riad in the city, with time to explore on your own and a cooking class that takes you all the way from market to table. If you want, add on an afternoon at the hammam for a relaxing spa experience.
For advanced intermediate and above riders who want to feel the sea breeze in their hair.
